Supportive Foods During a Parasite Cleanse

My top food choices to incorporate before & during a parasite protocol, or great options for individuals who are unable to cleanse but still want to take advantage of foods that can weaken & disrupt parasites.

Garlic πŸ§„ – has broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties against bacteria, fungi, viruses, & parasites packed with sulfur compounds (alliin, allicin, diallyl sulfide, ajoene) & antioxidants that can destroy pathogenic organisms. Best raw chopped or crushed to release the sulfur compounds powerful enough to destroy antibacterial resistant bacteria, try a garlic aioli dip, in hummus or mince it & take it with some raw honey.

Onion πŸ§… – the sulfur compounds in onions can destroy pathogenic organisms.

Pumpkin Seeds – contain protective plant compounds, tetracyclic triterpenes & cucurbitins, that can paralyze worms & make it difficult for them to grasp onto the intestinal walls, allowing them to be flushed out of the body. The seeds contain a natural fat that is toxic to parasite eggs. My favorite is raw organic sprouted pumpkin seeds added to salads, smoothies, or on their own.

Papaya – the fruit is anti-inflammatory loaded with vitamins, minerals & enzymes. The seeds are packed with proteolytic enzymes & the anti-amoebic & anti-helminthic compound, carpain. Enjoy with a drizzle of honey as the seeds taste like peppercorns.

Cucumber Seeds – contain Erepsin a digestive enzyme that helps to break down protein & can damage intestinal parasites. Enjoy in salad or with mineral-rich salt & lemon.

Raw πŸ₯• Carrot Salad with Coconut Oil – while carrots don’t have any anti-parasitic properties, a carrot salad is a great supportive food as the indigestible fiber can help bind to excess estrogen & endotoxins in the gut. Most people who have a high parasite load also have digestive issues. When you pair the raw carrot with apple cider vinegar & coconut oil you boost its’ effects – the medium-chain-fatty acids in coconut have been shown to kill the parasite Giardia & is anti-fungal. ACV is effective against candida & parasites while supporting digestion. Organic πŸ₯• (grate, chop or eat whole), level it up add 1 tsp of ACV, 1 tsp coconut oil, sprinkle of mineral-rich salt.

Beets & Beet Juice – this root veggie is rich in nutrients including phytonutrients called betalains which support glutathione-dependent phase II detox. A good addition during parasite cleansing for its’ immune & liver supportive properties along with enhancing the production of nitric oxide. Beets have a pulling effect on the liver, improving the flow of bile, helpful to target stubborn parasites that harbor in the liver & bile ducts – improving liver function & bile flow is a great supportive strategy during parasite protocols. Note: beets are high in oxalates & natural sugar & might make your urine & stool tinged red/pink just so you are prepared during your next bowel movement after eating beets. Shout-out to my friend @laura.j.perry for sharing the power of beets.

Reishi – a medicinal mushroom with apoptogenic properties that can help the body adapt to stress & support adrenal health. It also has bioactive compounds shown to have immunomodulating, anti-allergic, anti-radiation, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic, & antioxidant properties. Works to enhance your innate immune system so it can better handle threats. Enjoy it: my favorite way to consume reishi is in capsule form or in my coffee, my top choice is King Coffee by Organo, organic coffee infused with the potent spores from the reishi mushroom also tested for mold & mycotoxins.

🍍 Pineapple – high in vitamin c & the core is packed with a proteolytic enzyme called bromelain, which can serve as a digestive aid to help break down protein especially helpful if you have low stomach acid. When it comes to parasites the bromelain can irritate & damage the outer layer of parasite bodies letting your stomach acid further dissolve them. Pineapple also helps prevent the conversion of fibrinogen to the excess fibrin that makes up biofilms, making it more difficult for parasites to hide from your immune system.
