One of my favorite tools for liver detoxification & to stimulate the lymphatic system is a Castor Oil Pack. Your lymphatic system is one of your detox pathways & you can think of it as the sewer system of the body – toxins, infections, metals, dead cells & debris from all over the body are collected & cleaned up by the lymphatic system then brought to the liver for filtering & eventually moved out of the body through the colon. Your lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump to do this on its’ own – it is a system that has to be moved to efficiently do its’ job. Castor Oil contains ricinoleic acid, a powerful anti-inflammatory, when used topically on the skin it diffuses into the tissues, this stimulates lymphatic flow & reduces inflammation. The Castor Oil stimulates peristalsis, an important part of digestion, through the prostaglandin EP3 receptors of the smooth muscles that contract the intestines, encouraging digestion & better bowels movements.
It can also improve levels of nitric oxide improving circulation to the intestine & has been shown to enhance Glutathione status in the body – our MASTER detoxifying agent.
Castor oil can break down biofilm – which is a protective layer produced by bad bacteria & parasites to hide & keep us from kicking them to the curb. So, breaking down biofilms can potentially enhance the effectiveness of a protocol.
